Remember Your Baptism
Grace and peace to you in Jesus’ name.
This past week, I celebrated an important milestone in my life: the 46th anniversary of my baptism. I was just a couple weeks old when my parents brought me to the font. And I slept through the whole thing. And yet, I am convinced that was the day God made a claim on me, sealing me with unbreakable promises that I belonged to Him, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
I encourage you to remember your baptism today – or the baptism of your children, grandchildren, etc. If you don’t know the exact date, look it up. Mark it on your calendar. Treasure the day in your heart.
But also, treasure today. Because as Luther reminds us in the catechism, the daily life of the baptized includes rising anew each day, casting aside the old, sinful self, and pursuing a life of faith, hope, and love.
You are God’s beloved! Today and always. Enjoy!
P.S. – In case you hadn’t heard, I finished my 26.2 miles last Saturday. Thanks for all your support, encouragement, and concern!!
