Running a Marathon ... one step at a time!
Grace and peace to you in Jesus’ name.
It’s just two more days until the day of my big race. I plan to complete the Fargo Marathon this Saturday, September 25. Running 26.2 miles is a big accomplishment – even thought I’ll take my sweet time completing it!
But even more important than the 26.2 miles I hope to cover Saturday are all the training runs it took to get to this point. By the time I finish the race, I will have logged 500 miles since I began training back in April – not to mention the 120 miles I ran in the winter to get in good enough shape to even start marathon training.
This is often how long, arduous journeys happen: one moment, one mile at a time. We never train for a marathon all at once. We chip away at it.
It’s a good metaphor for life and a good way to think about your spiritual journey, too. You may have some major goal in mind for your spiritual life, or the health of one of your relationships. You may have a lofty life goal. You can’t achieve such things in one day. The key is to break the achievement of that goal into tiny, manageable pieces and try to accomplish one tiny thing today. Then reload and build on that success tomorrow. If I can be of any encouragement, let me know!

Our podcast is officially
launched!
In our very first
episode of, “You Gotta Try This!” Pastor Nate and Pastor Megan discuss how to
grow faith around mealtime, whether your household has young children, older
children, no children, or if you live alone. And later in the podcast, Pastor
Nate interviews Sara Ross and her son, Phil about a spiritual mealtime practice
that started 10 years ago in their household with the gift of a six-sided
die! Find us on your favorite podcast
