Immanuel's Revisioning Session April 2, 2022 10a-12p
Servants of Christ at Immanuel,
You are getting this note because you have agreed to be part
of our “Visioning For Immanuel’s Future” session on Saturday, April 2 from
10am-12pm (or at least said you’d try to attend!). A couple of notes that will help us have a
successful time together
1. Please be punctual. We will get started (hopefully!) right away at 10am. Steph Drange is providing some refreshments, so we can snack a bit as we work! But please be ready to engage with one another right away at 10am.
2. Come with enthusiasm and an open mind. This is a group project and process in which we will brainstorm and then work together to build consensus. You will so some work independently, and some in conversation around tables and between tables. We won’t ever sit still for very long!
3. Our work will focus on three areas of brainstorming: 1) Core STRENGHTS: what is Immanuel good at? What are we currently doing that brings life to our congregation and our community? 2) Where are our OPPORTUNITIES to grow and share Christ? What are the ways Immanuel could share the love of Christ if only a few people committed to the work and a champion would lead the way? 3) What are our ASPIRATIONS as a congregation? Where do we hope to be in 2-3 years? What are our dreams that fit well with our strengths and opportunities but would require a serious commitment of time, energy, and resources? Spending even a few minutes before Saturday thinking about these questions will help us do great work together.
4. Our work will need to be positive and optimistic. Achieving specific goals related to this visioning could require difficult work, addressing conflict, removing obstacles, etc., but we don’t want to get lost in the weeds on Saturday. We want to see strengths, possibilities, and dreams. Come prepared to focus your energy in this way.
If you have questions or concerns about this process, or need clarification about what we’ll be doing and how you fit into that process, talk to me before Saturday!
