Every once in a while, a Sunday comes along that makes a pastor feel pretty awesome. Yesterday was one of those days. It was our annual stewardship Sunday. It was the day we ask people to fill out commitment cards that tell us how much they intend to give in 2009. We didn't trick anybody. They knew what we were doing. And yet, 172 people showed up! And they not only showed up -- we partied!! We had great music, great food, and lots of celebrating. And best of all, it was truly a congregation-wide effort as so many lay people worked their tails off to make it happen. The full service is available on CD at church, but I pasted my meditations together (which were scattered throughout the service) into one file. Click the player below:

In other news, my happiness is slightly dampened by the way Amsale fusses and cries so much at night. We think it's her teething. She's cutting molars and that makes her drool and hurt. So she's up and crying every 1-2 hours all night long. So we're tired. But life at our house still gets better every day. Routine has been good for everyone. We hope to continue that routine this week, too. There's a lot going on -- but that shouldn't affect bedtime too much.

And that's the news from Browerville.
