I must say that I much prefer my pulpit to synod assembly. And what a great day to be in the pulpit. We had an all out celebration -- even applauding half a dozen times! That's about as rowdy as it got, though. Check out the sermon, which includes a lot of recognition of people and gruops:
In other news, I am officially part of the Browerville Fire Department now. I even went on my first call on Wednesday. Small grass fire. It could have been a lot worse, though, if it had been in a more open area as the wind was blowing big time.
On Friday, I started getting sick, but still managed to plant my garden with 33 tomato plants (including one upside down in a bucket again!). By Saturday though (also my 11th wedding anniversary) I was very sick with fever and chills, etc. I get those things more easily since my "mystery illness" upon returning from Ethiopia in 2006. Anyway, I'm finally about back to normal (for me) today.
Today, I'm going on a field trip with Bereket's 1st grade class as a chaperone! Yipee. So I have to scoot.
And that's the news from Browerville.
