I learned something yesterday. For evening snack, I made popcorn for the kids. Teshe and Amsale were given a bowl each and they started eating it like wolves. They would grab huge handfuls of it and hold it up to their face as if they were trying to fit as much in there as possible. "What are you guys doing?" I asked. "It's not a contest to try and see how much you can cram in your face at once." Then I got a bowl for myself and started to eat. It was then I realized where they learned that technique. Oops. They're always learning.

In other news, we had a nice, full worship service yesterday. I preached on Acts chapter 23 and found a way to connect it to the ELCA's actions to make room in the church for blessing gay and lesbian long-term relationships and calling and ordaining gay and lesbian pastors in committed relationships, too. I took a conciliatory approach and spoke in an optimistic way about the church's continued ability to bear Christ. Have a listen:
