The other day I was spending time with my kids when my #3 son said, "Dad, you're a good dad." O my heart was warmed!! All my dedication was not going unnoticed!!! And I should have just taken the compliment from this 3-year-old and moved on with my day with a warm feeling in my heart.
But I got greedy. I should have known better, really. Take a compliment and run. But I had to ask. "What makes me a good dad," I asked the boy. And then came the earth shattering answer:
"Because you are tall."
Nice. Could have had a day of feeling really good about myself. Instead, I now know that the only thing that makes me a good dad in the eyes of my 3-year-old son is the fact that I am tall. Big ego boost.
Anyway, preached yesterday. I'll try to do better next week:
This week, we have an evangelism letter to get out there. And Lutefisk to get ready for. And I suppose we'll have confirmation, Sunday worship and a few visits in there somewhere.
And that's the news from Browerville.
