I dreamed a dream

For the first time in as long as I can remember, I had a dream last night that was vivid and real enough to remember. It was more than a bit strange. But I remember it clearly.

I was attending a basketball game and ended up sitting right next to President Obama and his wife. Surprisingly, we weren't immediately court side, but we were in the first 10 rows or so. We exchanged a lot of small talk and basketball talk -- as if we were old friends exchanging zingers and one-liners.

After the game, we ended up back at my house (which wasn't really my house but some place I'd never seen before, but you know how dreams go) and I was showing the president my boat and some of my other "inventions," things I had cobbled together with leftover wood, screws, plastic, etc. He was very interested especially in the wind-powered go cart I had made. In real life, I don't own a wind-powered go cart, but in my dream, I had no problem explaining how I built it. It had a tattered blue tarp for a sail, which was only about 4 square feet, so I don't see how it possibly worked, but ...

I also took him for a ride in my motor home. And then, before I knew it, the dream had transitioned and the president was gone and I was with people who were trying to explain to me how salt could be used as a substitute sunscreen in a pinch.

What did I learn from this dream? 1) I am finally starting to sleep more deeply at night!! 2) The president would find me utterly fascinating if he ever met me; and 3) When I am around high-class people, I think of myself as a bit of a red neck. Honestly, the only thing missing from that dream was duct tape. And as I type, I can look up the desk to my bible, which has had the binding repaired with ... wait for it ... duct tape!!

And that's the news from Browerville.
