Connecting Through Service

As we launch into summer, it is a very exciting time to be church.  Not only do we have a vibrant online and radio ministry to allow you to connect to worship wherever you are, we have been able to relax guidelines around masks and distance.  The tape and ropes are gone … and we’re only asking people to mask while singing along with the hymns.

What a great time to reconnect with in-person worship!  And a great way to reconnect is through service.  I thought I would simply take some time in my weekly email to list a few emerging opportunities to offer your time and talent in the coming months.  We welcome the gifts of ALL AGES.  Please contact the church office (631-2738, church@wadenaimmanuel.org) to offer your gifts of service.

Ushering
Ushers help greet people in worship, pass out bulletins (which are coming back in June!), and dismiss families for communion.  We also need ushering captains to help schedule for either the 8:30 service or the 10:00 service.

Lectors
Lectors help share the Word of God by reading the first and second lessons at both services.  We also need captains to help recruit lectors each week.

Communion Set Up
With the unpredictability of worship attendance, we have begun celebrating communion every Sunday.  We are looking for people to join our altar care team to set up for communion.  This is a great opportunity for “behind the scenes” service and could be done as little as 1-2x/year!

Communion Serving
For those who are vaccinated and willing to wear a mask, we invite you to help serve communion with our pastors on Sunday morning at either 8:30 or 10:00.  We have many who are willing, so signing up to serve would be an occasional opportunity.

Music
Our worship services include a cantor to lead the congregation in singing each week at both services.  Occasionally, special music is needed, too.

Bible Camp Pen Pal Program
How exciting to once again be sending kids to Bible Camp.  And we’d love to have to send them letters of encouragement during their week at camp.  If you would be willing to be a Bible camp pen pal, talk to Jil Fiemeyer (jfiemeyer@wadenaimmanuel.org)

Office Volunteers
There is always a thing or two to do during the week in the office!  We could especially use help copying, folding, and mailing weekly bulletins to our homebound.

In the coming months, more opportunities to serve will certainly emerge as we look toward fall.  So stay tuned to our webpage for more details, including participating in our food ministries and helping our youth raise money for the national youth gathering!

Humbly in Christ,
Pastor Nate

More Changes to our Safety Plan

Here is how we’ll operate the next few weeks, at least!  We will only require masks during hymn singing.  We’ve also removed all our tape and ropes, so … sit wherever you like.  Our fellowship hall is available for anyone who does not feel comfortable with these practices.  Masks are required at all times in our Fellowship Hall on Sundays. Remember, these changes rely on many people being vaccinated, so if you haven’t gotten vaccinated yet, you are strongly encouraged to do so. And please … be respectful of one another during these changing times.

Our Worship Schedule Each Sunday (Summer, too!):
**
8:30am – worship in person, or online
**
9:30am – worship on KWAD (920AM or 101.7FM)
**
10am – worship in person

We’re Retooling our Prayer List
Remember that we are re-launching our prayer list on June 1.  If you or a loved one is on our prayer list and you would like to continue to be in our Sunday prayers, please email (church@wadenaimmanuel.org) or call (631-2738) the church office.  Or fill out this form: https://www.wadenaimmanuel.org/prayerrequest Names will stay on our prayer list for 4 weeks.  Military prayers will remain on the list for six months, unless a request to remove comes sooner.
